Founded in 1952, Southampton is ranked among the top 75 universities in the world, and is a member of the prestigious Russell group of UK research universities. Students have access to top-notch research facilities and learn from researchers at the cutting edge of their fields. Since 2012, the university has been making some changes to the curriculum to enable students to tailor their degree to their needs, choosing modules from other disciplines.
The campus offers a vibrant and diverse place to live and learn, with plenty of parks and green spaces to enjoy, as well as an Institute for Life Sciences, and a Maritime Centre of Excellence in collaboration with Lloyd’s Register is under development.
The main High field campus is located two miles from the centre of Southampton, with other sites spread across Southampton and Winchester. Known as the cruise capital of Europe, Southampton plays host to over four million visitors a year and boasts an impressive cultural offering, from museums, music venues and art galleries, to award winning parks and the general hustle and bustle of a diverse city with fantastic shopping facilities.
